Top SEO Mistake: Failing to Keep Site Up-to-Date with New Content

Many people think that once they have a website designed that they are done. However, managing a website takes time and content. The days of building a simple website with a few pages of information, and not touching it again until it’s time for a new design, are gone.

Today, websites are changing daily. New content is being added to sites all the time. Those sites that are constantly updating are seeing the most traffic because of search engine optimization. Search engines will stop looking at a site that does not update, because what’s the point? There is nothing new there.

Having and utilizing a blog is an easy way to keep the content fresh and new on your site. I recommend that you start writing at least one blog a week. Some people are writing a blog a day!

Tip: If you are having problems coming up with ideas for your blog, try considering the time of the year. For example, if you are a restaurant you could try writing an article on “Gift Cards for the Holidays” or “Valentine’s Specials”.

By continuing to update your site with new content, your ranking will be helped in two ways.

  1. Google searches through fresh content
  2. Google considers high page content when putting a ranking to your website.

By writing just one blog a week, you are adding 52 new pages a year!

Tip: If you do not have a lot of time throughout the month, try writing 4 or 5 articles and scheduling your posts weekly over the next month.
